An air balancing test starts with total external static pressure: how much resistance the air handler is working against. We also measure supply CFM at every register using a calibrated flow hood and compare the readings against ACCA Manual D design values for the room size and occupancy. After the static reading we run a traverse at the trunk to measure the total air the system is actually moving, then flow-hood every register to see where that air ends up. In a lot of North Las Vegas homes the numbers tell a clear story: the great room and the nearest bedroom are getting far more than their share while the far bedrooms and the bonus room over the garage are starved. Once we know the split, the fix is mechanical. We open the dampers feeding the starved rooms, dial back the flooded ones, and correct any takeoff or crushed flex that is choking a run. The most common causes are insufficient supply CFM to the room (duct too small, damper partially closed, or register blocked), inadequate return air causing positive pressure that prevents supply air from entering the space, or insufficient insulation at exterior walls relative to the load. Will air balancing fix my high utility bills?
If high bills are caused by a system running longer than it should to compensate for poor distribution, yes. A properly balanced system reaches setpoint faster and cycles less. If the system is inefficient due to equipment age or refrigerant issues, balancing improves distribution but does not fix equipment efficiency. We assess both during a balancing visit.

We do, because it is pointless to balance air that leaks out first.
